Trust me i don’t blame. If you don’t know by now Wes Craven’s baby Nightmare on Elm St. is being remade (with no Robert Englund Freddy). Now i wasn’t old enough or even born when the movie first came out but for all my life i will remember that Robert Englund is Freddy Kreuger.
Now the remake is being down by Samuel Bayer…you got that look on your face like who the hell is that, trust me your not the only one. Bayer is probably most well known for directing music videos and this will be his first movie (talk about pressure).
Nevertheless, Wes Craven was never contacted or told that his baby would be remade and when addressed about the situation he said this “Yes it does hurt, it does because its such an important film for me that, unfortunately, when I signed the original contract I gave up all rights to it and so there’s nothing I can do about it.I don’t even know who’s doing it and I’m not interested. It’s actually really painful to think about it. It’s the film of mine that I probably love the most, and which made the most money. The script went around Hollywood for three years and nobody touched it and I went through all my life savings and everything else to pay for it, so I had to make the deal I did. Frankly, at that time I thought it would be one movie and that’s it. I never thought it would go on and on and on.”
So there you have Wes Craven is not happy about his movie being remade. Let me know what you think.
